Romans 6:11-1411 Even so consider yourselves all dead to sin and your relation to it broken,
but alive to God [living in unbroken, fellowship with Him] in Christ Jesus.
12 Let not sin therefore rule as king in your
mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies, to make you yield to its cravings and be subject to its lusts and evil passions.
13
Do not continue offering or yielding your bodily members [and faculties] to sin as instruments (tools) of wickedness. But
offer and yield yourselves to God as though you have been raised from the dead to [perpetual] life, and your bodily members
[and faculties] to God, presenting them as implements of righteousness.
14 For sin shall not [any longer] exert dominion
over you, since now you are not under Law [as slaves], but under grace [as subjects of God's favor and mercy]. (AMP)
James 5:16
16 Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps,
your offenses, your sins,) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind
and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its
working]. (AMP)
Galatians 5:1
1 IN [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us];
stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off].
(AMP)
Galatians 5:16-17
16 But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive
to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of
human nature without God).
17For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the [Holy] Spirit, and the [desires of the] Spirit
are opposed to the flesh (godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in
conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do. (AMP)
Galatians 5:24-25
24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus (the Messiah) have crucified the
flesh (the godless human nature) with its passions and appetites and desires,
25 If we live by the [Holy] Spirit, let us
also walk by the Spirit. [If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward walking in line, our conduct controlled
by the Spirit.] (AMP)
Romans 8:2
2 For the law of the Spirit of life [which is] in Christ Jesus [the law of our
new being] has freed me from the law of sin and of death. (AMP)
Romans 8:5-9
5 For those who are according to the flesh and are controlled by its unholy
desires set their minds on and pursue those things which gratify the flesh but those who are according to the Spirit and
are controlled by the desires of the Spirit set their minds on and seek those things which gratify the [Holy] Spirit.
6
Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death [death that comprises all the miseries
arising from sin, both here and hereafter]. But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever].
7
[That is] because the mind of the flesh [with its carnal thoughts and purposes] is hostile to God, for it does not submit
itself to God's law; indeed it cannot.
8 So then those who are living the life of the flesh
[catering to the appetites and impulses of their carnal nature] cannot please or satisfy God, or be acceptable to Him.
9
But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit
of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you]. But if anyone does not possess the
[Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God]. (AMP)
Colossians 3:1-3
IF THEN you have been raised with Christ [to a new life, thus sharing His
rsurrection from the dead], aim at and seek the [rich, eternal treasures] that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right
hand of God.
2 And set your minds and keep them set on what is above (the higher things), not on the things that are on
the earth.
3 For [as far as this world is concerned] you have died, and your [new, real] life is hidden with Christ in
God. (AMP)
1 John 2:15-17
15 Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world. If
anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world-the lust of the flesh [craving
for sensual gratification] and the lust of the eyes [greedy longings of the mind] and the pride of life [assurance in one's
own resources or in the stability of earthly things]-these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself].
17
And the world passes away and disappears, and with it the forbidden cravings (the passionate desires, the lust) of it; but
he who does the will of God and carries out His purposes in his life abides (remains) forever. (AMP)
1 John 5:4-5
4 For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the
victory that conquers the world, even our faith.
5 Who is it that is victorious over [that conquers] the world but he who
believes that Jesus is the Son of God [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on that fact]? (AMP)
1 John 4:4
4 Little children, you are of God [you belong to Him] and have [already] defeated
and overcome them [the agents of the antichrist], because He Who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the
world. (AMP)
Philippians 4:6-7
6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance
and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
7
And God's peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing
nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding
shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. (AMP)
Philippians 4:8-9
8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence
and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and loveable, whatever is kind and winsome
and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account
of these things [fix your minds on them].
9 Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model
your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, and undisturbed well-being) will be with you. (AMP)
Philippians 4:13
13 I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready
for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency]. (AMP)
James 4:7
7 So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will
flee from you. (AMP)
